A recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine reports that 1 in 5 women are victims of sexual assault while in college, and that the vast majority of those assaults on college campuses are perpetrated by acquaintances of the victim, with freshman and sophomores thought to be at greatest risk. The study reports on an intensive course showing women how to recognize and resist sexual aggression reduced the chance of rape by one-half.
