Yesterday the US Supreme Court ruled that an abused child’s statement to his teachers concerning his abuse could be the basis of a felony conviction by his abuser. The Court reversed a decision by the Ohio Supreme Court which threw out the conviction of a Cleveland man because he was allegedly denied his constitutional rights to confront his accuser, the child, who was too young to testify. The ruling is a clear victory for children who are victims of abuse.
